The Herefordshire Conservative Business Forum (CBF) met for its monthly breakfast at The Harewood End on 15th December 2023. After enjoying a hearty breakfast the Forum was delighted to welcome Peter Judge who is the Group Managing Director of S&A Produce as the guest speaker.
Peter shared his 40 years’ experience in the food industry. Over the last 20 years, his focus has been in brand development and business turnaround including COO of Tulip UK and Karro Foods, for the last 6 years he has been the Group Managing Director of S&A Produce.
S&A are the UK’s largest independent strawberry grower, supplying the major retailers during a time of significant cost pressure. S&A have diversified from growing to breeding with their Lady Emma strawberry plants and other varieties, collectively known as The Lady Club (TLC), sold in over 8 European Countries and under trial in North America.
Outside of S&A Peter was the Chair of the AHDB Horticultural Board that managed the wind down and transfer of activities to Horticulture Crop Protection Ltd (HCP), he is also a board member of the British Berry Growers Ltd which has 3 key activities, Marketing, R&D, and Policy to deliver a thriving British berry industry. Peter was born in Liverpool and by definition tends to lean to the left rather than the right, his personal motto is ‘Addere Valorem Non Constant’!
The Forum was also delighted that Peter was able to present a Lady Emma award to Frank Green. Lady Emma is a variety of strawberry bred by S&A
